How the menu is put together

Sushi Kitchen sells open-source infrastructure you run yourself. Every service on the menu is a roll; the twelve families group the ninety-two rolls by what they do, and this page is one family. Order a single roll or a ready-made composition of several — either arrives as a compose file that runs on your own server, or we host it for you.

Roll
One service. Ninety-two exist, each listed under the family it belongs to.
Family
One of twelve groups the rolls fall into, by the job they do. Sizes run from three rolls to fifteen.
Combo
Two to four rolls that work together, ordered as one composition.
Platter
Five or more rolls: a complete working environment rather than a part of one.
The lead roll

One roll stands at the head of every family page — the one to look at first if the family is new to you. It is picked by rule, not by hand.

FFmpeg

uramaki.ffmpeg

Command-line suite for decoding, encoding, transcoding, filtering and streaming audio and video, supporting a very wide range of codecs and container formats.

Why this one leads

Production maturity, three minutes to stand up, and it appears in six of the twenty-six compositions.

The rule

Highest maturity, then shortest stand-up time, then most used across the twenty-six compositions. No editorial list.

The rest of the family

5 more

Every other roll in the family, alphabetically. Each has a page of its own giving what it provides, what it needs alongside it, and the hardware it wants — and any roll can be ordered on its own.

Remotion requires a paid company licence for this kind of use, which we are in the process of buying.

Starboard · self-host closed

Remotion's licence counts everyone who operates it, and shipping it to you would bring your own team into that count. We are confirming with Remotion how our licence covers customers who run it themselves.

Served in

A composition is a set of rolls chosen to work together and deployed in one go. Six of the twenty-six include a uramaki roll. Ordered by how much of the family each one holds.
